About

Although he’s been painting professionally for much of the past 25 years, Dan still considers himself as an emerging artist. “My studio practice embraces the notion that process experimentation is the cornerstone of all artistic growth.” Never static, he is always looking to redefine his creative approach.

”I’m a bit of a loner and capturing my own response, to time in the water, has become the ultimate mode of self expression for me”.

Dan is a lifetime ocean lover. Having spent some of his childhood onboard the ships his father worked on, traveling across oceans for months at a time, he developed a deep connection to the expansiveness of the natural world. He started riding waves as an eight year old in Durban, South Africa, where he lived for a couple of years before relocating to the Hibiscus Coast in NZ, then the southern Gold Coast in 1984, where he’s been embracing the ocean everyday since. He finds his greatest energetic and artistic inspirations when observing the ever changing interactions between the sun and water.

Dan has exhibited in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in Australia, the Affordable ArtFair circuit throughout Europe and been a finalist in several regional Australian Art Prizes.
